Regular preventive maintenance is recommended by all instrument manufacturers to achieve optimum playing condition. A poorly maintained instrument can only hamper your performance. Regular maintenance is often referred to as "annual servicing" or as "COA"(clean, oil and adjust). A qualified repair technician will keep your instrument in good operating condition (think of it as an oil & filter change for your car). Manufacturers' guidelines require service at this level once a year.
Our Basic Clean/Oil/Adjust: Dismantle & clean all, oil screws, tension springs, tighten pad screws, replace missing or worn key corks & felts, dust sticky pads, assemble/oil/adjust all, and test play.
Often there are times when a full overhaul of an instrument is warranted. A well maintained instrument may perform as long as 10-15 years or longer before requiring a complete overhaul. I have the skills and ability to perform such an overhaul of your valuable instrument along with the experience to provide professional evaluations and advice on your need for this service.
A complete instrument overhaul/re-pad includes:
Dismantle & clean and hand buff all, repair dents if needed (major dents extra charge), fit flute tenons, replace flute crown cork, clean & polish all rods, oil all rods and screws, tighten springs (replace up to 2 if needed), straighten bent posts/rods/keys, replace damaged screws, level damaged tone holes, install new pads, assemble, and test play.
